Carly is a Senior Associate in the Employment team.

Specialisms include supporting businesses going through corporate reorganisations and/or restructures and advising on the employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions and outsourcing projects.

Experienced in TUPE, harmonisation of and changing terms and conditions of employment, collective consultation obligations, change management strategies and redundancy programmes.  Carly also provides guidance on executive recruitment and exits and day-to-day HR issues such as disciplinary and grievance processes, absence management, poor performance and HR policies and procedures.

Her contentious experience includes acting for a variety of clients in complex discrimination, whistleblowing and equal pay claims in the Employment Tribunal. Carly also has experience of breach of contract claims in the civil courts.

Clients include senior executives and businesses operating in the transport, infrastructure, financial services and retail sectors.

Recent examples of how Carly has supported clients include:

  • successfully defending a breach of contract wages dispute for a unionised transport sector client, with significant industrial relations implications;
  • advising a financial services business through a large-scale redundancy programme triggered by a decision to close one of their operating sites;
  • successfully defending a complex fixed-term discrimination claim for a transport client in the appellate courts; and
  • delivering a bespoke training programme on equality and diversity to senior managers and line managers of a retail client to improve internal processes and reduce the risk and likelihood of Tribunal claims.
