As a former in-house lawyer with Severn Trent, she understands the commercial pressures her clients are under and in particular the importance of ensuring deals are completed on time and to budget.

Recent examples of how Jay has supported clients include:

  • finalising the lease of premises from Nottingham City Council to house the world’s first cultural centre for video games, known as the National Videogame Arcade, Nottingham;
  • advising a specialist developer on their acquisition of five retail units from a national housebuilder where there was residential accommodation above and therefore questions of the tenants’ right to leasehold enfranchisement;
  • refinancing an extensive property portfolio to enable a corporate investor to secure lending on more favourable terms to free up capital for further acquisitions; and
  • ensuring the purchase of a freehold property was geared up and ready to go before a company could exercise a break clause in the lease of their current premises without fear of the purchase falling through.
