Caroline is a Partner in the Real Estate team.
She undertakes a wide range of real estate work, including freehold acquisitions and disposals and the grant, renewal, assignment, subletting and surrender of leasehold interests. Caroline also supports clients with both contentious and non-contentious Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 matters regarding renewals, notices and compensation for secure tenants. Her availability is described as “nothing short of fantastic”. She is rated by a client as “brilliant with strong commercial advice”. Caroline has spoken previously at the Property Managers Association (PMA) Annual Conference.
Her experience also includes general landlord and tenant issues arising out of requests for licences to occupy, assign, underlet or alter leasehold property or for deeds of release or variation. She heads-up a team of real estate lawyers with the capacity to deal with high volumes of transactions at any one time.
Her clients include high street brands such as Dunelm and Flying Tiger. She operates across a variety of sectors but with a particular emphasis on A1 retail, the hot food takeaway market, franchised businesses and logistics. In the past she has acted for Vision Express, Domino’s Pizza Group and the Timpson Group.
Recent examples of how Caroline has supported clients include:
- Successful completion of over 40 property acquisitions on behalf of a retailer following a competitor’s administration within a 6 month period;
- Completion of 20+ regears for a retailer within a short 6 month period;
- Advising retailers on acquisitions within established Centres such as Bluewater and Metro Centre Gateshead drawing on our experience with institutional landlords such as Land Securities and British Land; and
- Completing the sale and leaseback of nine freehold properties for a retailer in a deal worth in excess of £2 million.
