Kerry is a Senior Associate in the Tax & Trusts and Wills & Estates teams.

She provides guidance on a wide range of private wealth matters including: the preparation of both simple and complex Wills, the preparation and registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney, and the registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney.

In addition, Kerry provides advice on lifetime gifts, making Deputyship Applications, making other Court of Protection applications to include Statutory Wills and lifetime gifts where the individual has lost capacity. She is well versed at preparing Trusts and Estate Administration.

Kerry’s clients include private individuals, executors, administrators, trustees and beneficiaries.

Recent examples of how Kerry has supported clients include:

  • supporting an individual on how they can reduce their potential Inheritance Tax liability by utilising Inheritance Tax exemptions such as ‘Gifts out of Excess Income’. The preparation of a Letter of Intent which can be submitted to HMRC on death setting out the individual’s intention to make ‘Gifts out of Excess Income’;
  • working with a couple on lifetime gifts including the preparation of various Deeds of Gift including a relevant indemnity clause which can be submitted to HMRC by their executors in the event that HMRC argue that the gifts made were loans and therefore, form part of their estate on death;
  • preparing Wills for a couple with business assets including advice on Business Property Relief and the incorporation of a Discretionary Trust structure; and
  • advising an individual on the potential for a 1975 Act claim to be made by her former husband to whom she did not have a financial settlement. Prepared a detailed Letter of Wishes setting out her wishes and intentions and the preparation of a Statement which could be submitted to the Court in the event of a 1975 Act claim.
