Phillip is a Partner in the Employment and Immigration teams.

Experienced in a wide range of employment and immigration matters, Phillip specialises in resolving complex HR issues and advising on sponsor licence and corporate visa applications.

He specialises in dealing with matters arising out of recruitment, performance management, employee absenteeism, whistleblowing, TUPE transfers, business reorganisation, employee grievances, disciplinary proceedings, dismissals and the enforceability of post-termination restrictive covenants.

In addition to Phillip’s extensive employment experience, he also deals with various immigration matters including sponsor licence applications, effective management of sponsor licence and supporting visa applications of individuals that businesses wish to recruit.

Phillip’s clients cover a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, IT, charities, retail and professional services as he regularly acts for SMEs and large corporates as well as senior individuals negotiating exits.

Recent examples of how Phillip has supported clients include:

  • advising on and negotiating the settlement of a proposed constructive dismissal claim of a senior employee;
  • supporting a business with an application for a sponsor licence and supporting the subsequent visa application of their new COO and his wife;
  • advising and negotiating a settlement on behalf of a senior employee following the unfair termination of his overseas secondment and subsequent proposed redundancy from his substantive UK role; and
  • supporting with the management of a sponsor licence following a change in corporate structure and the resulting changes which required a new licence and transfer of migrants to the new licence.
