Tom is a Solicitor in the Employment Team. 

As an approachable, commercially-minded and responsive employment law specialist, Tom has experience in multiple aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law including, supporting individuals and companies in bringing / defending Employment Tribunal claims, advising on HR and employee relations matters such as disciplinary and grievance processes, offering employment support and advice alongside corporate transactions, assisting clients navigate redundancy and restructure projects and preparing and negotiating Settlement Agreements and Contracts of Employment.

When supporting clients, including individuals as well as companies of varying sizes, Tom looks at the wider issues to deliver sensitive, efficient and commercial solutions based on the often-unique circumstances and requirements at hand.  

Aside from handling day-to-day matters, Tom also regularly produces and delivers update sessions on fast moving employment legislation and case law, and bespoke training to HR professional and senior / line managers.

Recent examples of how Tom has supported clients include:

  • completing a six-month in-house secondment for a large facilities provider, predominantly handling and defending a large case load of Employment Tribunal claims including various claims for unfair dismissal, disability discrimination and a sensitive and complex race discrimination claim;
  • successfully defending a claim for unfair dismissal brought by a former employee of a well-known retailer resulting in the claim being withdrawn ahead of the final hearing; and
  • successfully advising a senior football scout following the unfair termination of his employment by a Premier League football club and securing a substantial pre-hearing settlement.
