Tona is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution team.
Specialising in commercial disputes matters, Tona has experience in dealing with shareholder disputes, individual and corporate insolvency, breach of contract or warranty claims and professional negligence.
Tona’s aim is to ensure that disputes are resolved as quickly, and as cost effectively as possible by mediation or other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Her experience also covers litigating claims through the courts.
She has dealt with shareholders dispute claims, in situations where the shareholders can no longer, work together because there is a deadlock, or an unfair prejudice has occurred. Including claims against directors for breach of their director’s duties. Tona also advices on insolvency matters, including bankruptcy or winding up petitions, serving statuary demands and contested applications to set aside statutory demands.
Tona has acted in breach of contract claims, relating to defective/unsatisfactory good, breach of warranty and enforcement of guarantees. Her clients include individuals, food, retail, waste management, car engineering and financial services.
Recent examples of how Tona has supported clients include:
- Shareholders dispute - using mediation to settle an unfair prejudice claim on behalf of our client in the sum of £12.5 million, to avoid the very costly litigation process through the courts; and
- Breach of contract - this was a multi-party claim concerning a defective product, settled at a Without Prejudice meeting for £200k.
