The Local Government Association (LGA) has published guidance to Local Authority licensing teams on how to manage relevant issues raised due to the impact of COVID-19. A copy of the guidance can be found here.
The guidance covers alcohol and gambling licensing as well as licensing for taxis, scrap metal and animal establishments.
The aim of the guidance is to set out key principles as to how the councils should deal with the issues raised by the COVID-19 outbreak and provides examples of what various authorities have already done in response. This includes details on annual fees, enforcement and hearings.
The guidance promotes an open and pragmatic engagement between the councils and local businesses during this time to balance the business needs and the objectives of relevant legislation.
