Service overview

What we do

Trusts can protect assets, provide for family members and support long-term succession and tax planning. We advise settlors, trustees and beneficiaries on establishing, administering and reviewing trusts so that they remain effective as circumstances and legislation change.
Our work includes lifetime and will trusts, discretionary and interest-in-possession trusts, trusts for vulnerable beneficiaries, family investment arrangements and structures involving business or property assets. We also advise trustees on governance, distributions, tax and their fiduciary duties.

How we can help

We help clients decide whether a trust is appropriate, select the right structure and prepare terms that reflect the intended purpose. For existing trusts, we can review performance, update administrative arrangements, advise on appointments and distributions, and address tax or compliance issues.
The objective is a structure that is understandable, well governed and capable of supporting the people and purposes it was created to protect.

Documenting decisions and exercising trustee powers in accordance with the trust and fiduciary duties.

Selecting and creating an appropriate structure for family, succession, tax or asset-protection objectives.

Helping trustees establish an investment policy, work with advisers and monitor performance.

Supporting trustees with decisions, distributions, records, accounts and ongoing governance.

Managing registration and compliance with UK and international disclosure regimes.

Advising trustees and beneficiaries when administration, entitlement or conduct is contested.

Advising on income tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and reporting obligations.

Updating arrangements where circumstances, beneficiaries or tax rules have changed.

Planning and implementing the orderly distribution of assets and closure of the structure.
