Bio

Peter is a Construction Partner.

Peter provides holistic advice to clients, with a focus on construction work (both contentious and non-contentious), alongside commercial disputes.

In non-contentious construction work, Peter advises on all types of construction contracts and supporting documents. He also advises on professional appointments, collateral warranties and third-party rights.

In contentious construction work, Peter advised clients on a range of construction claims including non-payment, delays, variations, defects and professional negligence claims. These proceedings take place in the Technology and Construction Court part of the High Court, adjudications, mediation, negotiation, arbitration, and the county court.

Peter has represented clients in the Court of Appeal. He has also advised clients on applying for, and defending, injunctions, including anti-suit injunctions aimed at preventing legal proceedings taking place in foreign jurisdictions.

Much of Peter’s non-construction work involves a foreign element, representing foreign companies or supporting proceedings that are being taken abroad. His non-construction practice relates mainly to commercial contracts for the supply of goods and/or services.

Examples of Peter’s work include:

  • Acting for Hutton Construction, successfully defending a ‘smash and grab’ adjudication.
  • Drafting the full contractual documents for the extension of a frozen food’s facility for Thermotraffic.
  • Assisting on  construction documents for agreements to lease, including advising on collateral warranties, professional appointments and the building contract.
