Mike is a Commercial Real Estate Partner.
Mike specialises in residential development, buying land for development as housing, and mixed-use schemes. This involves both conditional and unconditional contracts, options, development agreements, and often involving overage arrangements.
His work primarily involves complex central-London, high-rise flatted schemes, and includes regeneration schemes in partnership with local authorities. He acts on all aspects of the land side of the acquisition.
Mike also acts on the sales of affordable housing, and structures involving funding from pension funds and institutional investors whose requirements need to be considered at the acquisition stage.
Mike also has significant expertise in strategic land, including promotion agreements and long-term options, for promoters, masterplan developers, and landowners.
Mike has worked on many corporate-focused projects, including overseeing the purchase of a land-owning company and setting up a joint venture entity to buy and develop land.
Examples of Mike’s work include:
- Acting for a leading residential developer on the acquisition of a circa eight-hectare site in South East London, with a GDV of circa £180 million and providing approximately just under 600 homes. The development involved working with the Environment Agency to create new flood defences, a riverside walk, and amenity land to provide walking and cycling routes.
