Sophie is a Commercial Real Estate Senior Associate.
Sophie advises across a range of commercial property matters, with particular expertise in freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals, surrenders, assignments and underlettings, and lease grants and renewals (including renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 Act).
Her expertise also encompasses all aspects of landlord and tenant work, including acting for landlords and tenants on the grant of new occupational leases and underleases, lease assignments, licences to occupy, tenancies at will, lease surrenders and rent deposit deeds.
Working with clients across the retail, industrial, and office sectors (including developers, investors, retail and leisure operators, banks, and high-net-worth individuals), Sophie advises on asset and portfolio management and the preparation of reports on title for investor and developer clients, alongside regularly acting for lenders and borrowers on secured lending transactions, and offering corporate support on finance deals.
Examples of Sophie’s work include:
- Acting for a banking group on the refinance of a mixed-use property portfolio (including a hotel and multi-tenanted residential properties) in the South East.
- Working for a national retailer in relation to the acquisition of new leasehold commercial units, and dealing with the renewal of their existing leases under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
- Completing certificates of title in respect of the financing of a high-value residential development in Kent.
- Acting for an insurance industry client on the leasehold acquisition of high-value, off-plan office buildings in central London.
- Acting for an investor in the sale of a portfolio of multi-tenanted properties used for student accommodation in Leeds.
- Acting for a developer on the development and sale of three commercial units on a new-build industrial development in Hertfordshire, including dealing with the release of existing security against the site.
- Advising a restaurant client in relation to the acquisition of new retail premises in London.
