Tom is a Commercial Real Estate Partner.
With more than 30 years’ experience, Tom specialises in advising property investment businesses in the acquisition, disposal, and creation of property investments across the retail, industrial, and leisure sectors.
His areas of expertise include freehold and leasehold acquisitions and development and disposals, with particular experience in highly-pressurised, multi-party transactions entailing complex documentation, complicated title issues, conditional contracts and pre-lets, and due diligence.
Working with property developers, investors and retail clients, Tom’s clients include national names such as The White Company, Dunelm, Quora Developments, and Glenstone Property.
Examples of Tom’s work include:
- Successfully acquiring the new London head office for The White Company in a new office development on the site of the old White City BBC studio.
- Acquiring typically brownfield sites for Quora, with each transaction valued at about £15 million, pursuant to contracts conditional on planning permission, and with pre-lets of up to eight retail units under building agreements for lease, also conditional on planning – and susbequently successfully selling on the investment in a tax efficient way.
- Advising on the disposal of a multi-let industrial trading estate which also included a dock.
