Bio

Rachel is a Disputes Partner.

Rachel has extensive experience in advising individuals and business owners throughout the UK on a range of contentious civil litigation disputes (or potential disputes), including both claimants and defendants.

Her expertise includes advising those thinking ahead on strategy to avoid potential disputes (such as navigating contractual termination before a contract is actually terminated) to prevent potentially expensive and damaging consequences to protect what they have built, or on complex disputes that have already arisen, including where emergency injunctive relief is required.

Whether working for businesses or individuals, Rachel covers corporate recovery, contractual disputes, director and shareholder disputes, breach of warranty claims arising from corporation transactions, misrepresentation, fraud, breaches of confidentiality or restrictive covenants, and the defence of personal injury claims.

Rachel is experienced in alternative routes to dispute resolution, driving strategic outcomes, including through mediation, expert determination, and round-the-table without-prejudice meetings and phone calls.

Rachel represents clients in all sectors.

Examples of Rachel’s work include:

  • Successfully defeating in the Court of Appeal an appeal of a decision of the High Court in relation to a Partnership dispute, involving complex issues surrounding jurisdiction, service and procedure.
  • Saving a long-established family business by successfully defending it from claims of breach of contract and negligence.
  • Successfully settling a high-value claim against a public body through negotiation and mediation.
  • Reducing the risk of litigation for a large corporate client by advising them on how to plan and deal with potential disputes more effectively and efficiently.
