Kate is a Commercial Senior Associate.
Kate advises public and private sector clients across a broad range of commercial and data protection matters.
She supports organisations throughout the lifecycle of commercial arrangements, from drafting and negotiating contracts to advising on contractual risk management and regulatory compliance.
Her experience includes supply of goods and services agreements, framework agreements, confidentiality agreements and terms and conditions, with has particular expertise in data protection and privacy law.
She advises clients on all aspects of their UK GDPR compliance programmes, including the delivery of data protection audits, drafting and maintaining, privacy notices and policies, advising on and risk assessing international data transfers, managing complex, large-scale subject access requests, and drafting and negotiating complex data processing agreements and data sharing agreements.
She also supports clients with emerging technology matters, including the implementation and use of AI solutions, automated decision-making and the associated privacy considerations.
Examples of Kate’s work include:
- Providing day-to-day commercial and legal support to the in-house legal team of a major international aviation engineering business.
- Delivering a group-wide data protection compliance audit for a UK-listed company, identifying compliance gaps and recommending practical remediation measures to the board across multiple business functions.
- Managing and coordinating responses to large-scale subject access requests involving more than 5,000 documents, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements.
- Designing and implementing bespoke data protection training programmes.
- Advising a retail client on legal and regulatory issues arising from consumer-facing marketing initiatives, including privacy and electronic marketing requirements.
- Supporting a hospitality sector client with the risk assessment, procurement and implementation of an AI-powered recruitment platform involving automated decision-making processes.
