Johanne Jackson

Johanne advises both employers and employees on the full range of employment law and HR matters, from day-to-day HR queries to complex and strategically significant workplace disputes.

She works with businesses across a range of sectors, and regularly supports directors, senior managers and HR professionals in navigating challenging workplace situations, helping clients to manage legal, financial and reputational risk.

Her expertise includes advising on and drafting employment contracts, service agreements and bonus clauses, advising on senior executive appointments and exits, complex disciplinary and grievance matters, workplace investigations, and large and small-scale redundancy and restructuring programmes, arising out of business reorganisations and TUPE-transfers of staff. She also advises on sensitive employee-relations matters, including discrimination, whistleblowing, harassment and restrictive covenant breaches.

Johanne has extensive experience representing employers in Employment Tribunal proceedings, managing claims from initial case assessment through to final hearings.

• Supporting a Japanese manufacturing business in the closure of its UK operation, including advice to the senior management team on fairly handling the redundancy process for the entire workforce.
• Acting for a national financial institution in the defence of a complex unfair dismissal and whistleblowing claim, resulting in a favourable settlement.
• Acting for a national education provider in defending an unfair dismissal and whistleblowing claim, including engaging in Judicial Mediation, to reach a successful settlement.
• Supporting a national retailer to bring a large team of logistics staff back in-house following the cessation of an outsourcing arrangement and helping to secure agreement from returning employees to changes to their terms and conditions, notwithstanding TUPE, to achieve parity with existing members of staff providing comparable services.
• Advising the management team and shareholders of a materials recycling business on the employment aspects of the sale and exit arrangements.
