Bio

Emma is a Family Associate.

Emma advises across a range of family law matters, with particular specialisms in private law children proceedings, advising on pensions, and supporting high-net-worth clients with their finances.
She advises clients on divorce, financial arrangements arising from separation, cohabitation disputes, domestic abuse allegations and injunctive orders, private children law matters, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements.

With particular expertise in private children law, Emma regularly represents parents in disputes concerning arrangements for their children, and has experience in complex cases involving allegations of alienating behaviours, domestic abuse, and harm to children.

She has also advised on matters with substantial domestic abuse allegations, working collaboratively with agencies to obtain non-molestation and occupation orders.

Emma also advises on complex financial matters arising from relationship breakdown, specialising in acting for serving personnel, veterans, Ministy of Defence employees, and their spouses (including advising on Armed Forces pensions on divorce).

Examples of Emma’s work include:

  • Acting for a father subject to allegations of substance abuse and assault against a baby, including a finding-of-fact hearing, culminating in successfully challenging the allegations and achieving a Child Arrangements Order which provided overnight and substantive contact.
  • Advising a mother in relation to a child’s Covid-19 vaccination status, successfully securing an agreement after the father’s refusal to provide consent.
  • Preparing an updated parenting plan with appropriate nouns and pronouns for a client who had transitioned gender, after reaching an agreement over increased contact arrangements, and subsequently representing the client in contested Children Act proceedings when the arrangements pursuant to the parenting plan broke down, securing a Joint ‘Lives With’ Child Arrangements Order where the time spent between both parents was equal for the children.
  • Supporting successful negotiations in an arbitration case for a considerable asset base with inheritance and income considerations.
  • Acting in negotiations to secure a favourable outcome for a senior naval officer regarding their pension on divorce.
