Ellen is an Associate in our Commercial team.

A specialist in competition law, Ellen provides her clients with full-service Competition law support. Ellen advises clients on competition compliance including selective distribution agreements, disputes relating to Competition law, and defends clients subject to investigations by the Competition and Markets Authority (including merger investigations and breaches of consumer legislation).

In addition to Competition law, Ellen regularly advises clients on Subsidy Control, State Aid, the National Security and Investment Act, EU retained law and trade.

Ellen has extensive experience across a wide spectrum of sectors including financial services, digital markets, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, transport and communications.

Her clients include both UK and international public and private companies with complex competition issues; multi-national organisations on brand maximisation and compliance. She also advises public sector bodies on subsidy control, State aid and competition issues.

Examples of how Ellen has supported clients include:

  • Advising a public sector client on the potential implications of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Bill on a multi-million-pound technology outsourcing project.
  • Supporting clients on the implementation of, and providing ongoing support with Selective Distribution Systems, including Roca and Ideal Standard;
  • Advising on the Enterprise Act and National Security and Investment Act implications of numerous acquisitions and joint ventures for a range of clients in the automotive and transport arena.
  • Conducting Subsidy Control assessments and liaising with BEIS on the Subsidy Control and State Aid implications for a series of connectivity projects across the UK.
  • Providing regulatory advice to clients navigating newly introduced import and export rules following the UK’s exit from the EU, including a national supermarket chain and construction industry clients.
