Bio

Andrea is a Planning & Environment Partner.

Andrea has experience in both planning and real estate matters, with particular expertise in the minerals sector.

Across the development lifecycle, Andrea advises on the strategy for planning, appeals, navigating third-party challenges, implementation and compliance – placing an emphasis on de-risking the process to ensure development can proceed in a timely manner.

Andrea also provides consideration of the need for planning permission and availability of permitted development rights.

Through her experience working with operators and landowners, and an active participation in trade associations, Andrea has a unique understanding of what is needed to operate a quarry and its environmental context.

She is also involved with ‘added value’ development such as concrete batching plants, and associated development such as recycling and waste.

Examples of Andrea’s work include:

  • Representing an operator (alongside counsel) in an appeal at a reopened inquiry, against the refusal of planning permission for a greenfield sand and gravel quarry, recovered by the Secretary of State for decision.
  • Advising on the review of two separate mineral planning permissions for a hard rock quarry, including appropriate procedure and the scoping of the environmental impact assessment.
  • Reviewing an application for a proposed dry recycling facility at a rail-served aggregates depot.
