Bio

Andrew is an Intellectual Property Partner.

Andrew specialises in the resolution of complex, high-value intellectual property (IP) disputes.

He advises clients on a broad range of matters including trade marks, passing-off, copyright, design rights and the protection of confidential information and trade secrets. His work frequently involves international elements, with experience across the UK, EU and North America.

He acts for a diverse client base ranging from global luxury brands to high-growth start-ups and established owner-managed businesses. Many of the matters on which he is instructed are business-critical, where intellectual property underpins brand value, market position, or future growth.

Andrew’s practice is particularly focused on contentious IP matters, including infringement disputes, brand protection, and disputes arising from employee departures – such as the misuse of confidential information such as customer data and supplier relationships – including the pursuit of springboard injunctions.

Examples of Andrew’s work include:

  • Acting for a fashion label in a trademark dispute with an internationally-recognised recording artist and producer, involving multiple applications and, ultimately, resulting in a claim expected to exceed £2 million.
  • Successfully striking out more than a £2 million claim against a client in the vaping sector through strategic use of a Security for Costs application.
  • Advising a major UK pharmaceutical company in a contractual dispute with an international counterparty, valued at approximately £10 million.
