Bio

Jon is a Real Estate Disputes Partner.

Jon specialises in all aspects of contentious property related work, including acting for investors, developers and occupiers – in relation to both high value commercial and residential property.

Jon has experience of acting for clients in the Court of Appeal, High Court, County Court, Property Tribunal and in arbitration proceedings.

Jon has particular experience and expertise in dealing with overage, joint venture and claims for adverse possession. He also regularly deals with all aspects of commercial landlord and tenant disputes including in relation to the recovery of arrears, forfeiture, lease renewals, rent reviews, the operation of break clauses and interim and terminal dilapidations (disrepair) claims.

Jon recognises that litigation is an unwelcome distraction from core business activities and seeks to achieve optimum outcomes that, where possible, avoid a protracted dispute.

Examples of Jon’s work include:

  • Acting for an international car manufacturer in relation to a dispute concerning their operation of a Central London showroom.
  • Acting for an industrial occupier in relation to a seven figure terminal dilapidations claim which raised complex building surveying, valuation and legal issues.
  • Acting for an international insurance company in relation to a substantial overage claim relating to their former UK headquarters.
  • Acting for the owner of a theme park in relation to a dispute with their operator.
