Bio

Katie is a Family Partner.

Katie specialises in complex private children’s law matters (including those involving domestic abuse, mental health issues, drug/alcohol abuse, child welfare and safeguarding concerns),

She also has experience of international children law matters including child abduction and child relocation, with particular expertise in cases involving Australia, USA, France, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Spain.

Kaite works closely with parents, grandparents and other family members regarding arrangements for children. She also advises on relocation and child abduction (including preventative measures), and protective measures and the impact of domestic abuse on arrangements for children.

Examples of Katie’s work include:

  • Supporting a successful relocation to Dubai, involving liaising with Dubai lawyers to implement the UK Order in Dubai prior to the children being allowed to reside there.
  • Supporting a client to achieve an equal shared care order, preventing their children from being relocated.
  • Advising a father on a cross-jurisdiction case to seek to secure the child remaining in England.
  • Protecting a mother from the father’s abusive behaviour, and obtaining orders to prevent the children from having contact with their abusive father.
  • Putting measures in place for children to reside with their paternal aunt and uncle when their father was dying, successfully arguing before the court that the mother could not care for them due to significant alcohol and safeguarding concerns.
