Bio

Lara is a Private Client Senior Associate.

Lara advises across a range of private client matters, specialising in estate planning.

Working with individuals, families and business owners looking to pass their assets on to the next generation, Lara’s expertise encompasses Inheritance Tax advice, wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, trusts, and Declarations of Trust.

Alongside supporting nuclear and blended families and individuals with tax planning, protection while going through relationship breakdown, and handling anticipated conflicts within a family in the future from an estate planning perspective, Lara also routinely works with clients who are in the process of a divorce, including advising on the creation of temporary ‘holding’ wills during separation proceedings.

She also supports clients purchasing property together with preparing Declarations of Trust to ensure that matters are recorded accurately and realistically for the long-term.

Examples of Lara’s work include:

  • Setting up and managing a lifetime trust for a client with detailed Letter of Wishes to ensure long-term provisions are made for an adult child with limited earning capacity, alongside advising on the taxation aspects and duties of the trustees.
  • Preparing a bespoke retrospective Declaration of Trust to record contributions to a property by several parties over a long period of time, and overseeing the agreement for the eventual distribution of the sale proceeds.
  • Advising on, and preparing, a will and Power of Attorney for a client with a family business, personal business, and other personal assets including property abroad.
  • Advising a high-net-worth couple with a family business on their Inheritance Tax position, including lifetime planning, trusts, and lifetime gifting.
