Bio

Lucy is a Regulatory Associate.

Lucy advises individuals, businesses, and directors on navigating and compliance with complex regulations, as well as robustly defending regulatory enforcement actions, and undertaking company investigations (both proactively and reactively).

Lucy’s expertise spans a number of different sectors, including health and safety, environmental, fire safety, professional misconduct, transport and trade compliance. She also works closely with global brands.

Lucy has defended companies being prosecuted over trade effluent discharge consents, supported corporations during interview and investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), advised on RIDDOR reporting obligations, and has represented an individual being prosecuted by the environment agency where the tenant was using the land as an illegal waste site.

Her commercial expertise includes international trade, where she assists businesses with changing export classifications and navigating conflicting UK and EU product labelling regimes. She also protects individual professionals, having drafted successful responses for clients facing misconduct allegations and suspension from their professional bodies.

Examples of Lucy’s work include:

  • Conducting an in-depth company investigation following the loss of an accreditation required to operate part of the business.
  • Advising a well-known international mobility company on the various regulatory risks to their business, including health and safety risks, product liability and fire risks, nuisance, company and individual liability for fraud and serious reputational risks, as well as providing mitigation strategies to reduce their current risk portfolio.
  • Investigating, providing advice, and drafting representations for a company who were being prosecuted for an alleged breach of their trade effluent discharge consent.
  • Advising a client on their obligations to report incidents under RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations).
  • Advising a housing association on fire safety issues identified during their inspection of front doors of tenanted premises.
