Sophie is a Residential Property Senior Associate.
Sophie is a residential property lawyer with more than 10 years of post-qualification experience – advising individuals, families, professionals, investors and high-net-worth clients on a wide range of residential property matters.
She advises on all aspects of residential conveyancing, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, transfers of equity, remortgages, new-build acquisitions and property portfolio transactions. She has acted on matters ranging from straightforward residential moves to more complex transactions involving title defects, restrictive covenants, leasehold issues and time-critical completions.
Her clients include first-time buyers, homeowners, landlords, property investors, professionals relocating for work and families managing property as part of their wider financial planning.
Her experience includes advising on high-value residential acquisitions, resolving complex title issues, supporting clients with investment property purchases as part of wider portfolios. She works closely with estate agents, mortgage brokers, lenders and other professional advisers.
Examples of Sophie’s work include:
- Negotiating a Deed of Release on behalf of previous landowners, securing an agreed premium for the release of restrictive covenants.
- Advising in a contentious probate matter involving property ownership issues, taking steps to protect the client’s position by ensuring their beneficial interest was appropriately reflected and protected against the registered title pending resolution of the wider estate dispute.
- Acting on the acquisition and disposal of development plots, including the sale of residential plots in Ipswich and London, advising throughout the transaction process and coordinating with developers, agents and lenders to achieve successful completions.
- Advising high-net-worth individuals on the acquisition of new-build residential properties, including high-value transactions requiring close management of contractual deadlines, funding arrangements and developer requirements.
