Knights’ Corporate team has advised BGF on its £4.25m investment in Midlands housebuilder Woodall Group.

The deal, is Knights latest supporting BGF - the UK’s most active investors having invested over £2.5 billion in nearly 400 companies across the last nine years.

Woodall Group, the owner of Midlands house builder Woodall Homes, will use the funding to support the acquisition of land in prime areas, underpin long-term growth and increase its development activity and building output. Derek Mapp  joins as non-executive chair of the business. Dave Wood, founder and Managing Director of Woodall Group, remains the majority shareholder and will continue to lead the business.

The business was founded in 2011 and has built a number of landmark developments across the Midlands, including recent developments in Chesterfield town centre, Newbold, Duckmanton, Pleasley, Clowne and Bolsover, close to the site of the historic Bolsover Castle.

BGF’s investment was led by Aaron Baker and Olly Cutting. Baker, who joins the board, commented: “Woodall Homes is a great business with an outstanding reputation for quality and has the confidence and capability to grow quickly. Having backed several regional housebuilders, we understand the dynamics of the market and the potential for longer-term growth. We are very excited to be backing Dave and the team, and to have attracted a chair of the quality of Derek Mapp.”

Dave Wood, founder and Managing Director of Woodall Group, said: ”We explored several different options for the business, and it was important to find a funding partner aligned with our goals. BGF understood our ambitions from day one. We have got to know the team well over the past few months and are looking forward to moving forward with their backing.”

Matthew Bolton, Senior Associate at Knights, commented: ”We’re delighted to build on recent good work with BGF across our business by advising on this investment in Woodall Group - a quality regional housebuilder which is primed for growth. We wish Dave and the rest of the excellent Woodall Group team every success.”
