Charlotte is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution team.

Her specialism is in resolving business disputes arising out of the alleged supply of defective goods or services, disagreements about commercial property, and liability for debts. She advises on the enforcement of rights under the terms of partnership or shareholder agreements, the obligations of company directors under the terms of a service contract or personal guarantee, and breach of contract claims, the recovery of unpaid loans or secured assets.

She assists clients whose reputation has been unfairly tarnished by defamatory comments or who require help in protecting their commercial interests, for example by enforcing intellectual property rights or the terms of a confidentiality agreement.

Charlotte’s clients include partnerships and private companies based in England and Wales who operate in a variety of sectors, ranging from finance and technology to pharmaceuticals and medical report writing services.

Where a case needs to be taken to court, she will ensure it is robustly defence or pursued. However, she also has a proven track record in securing negotiated or mediated settlements out of court.

Recent examples of how Charlotte has supported clients include:

  • securing the return, on behalf of a pharmaceutical company, of confidential information which had been stolen by a former employee and leaked to a competitor;
  • convincing the court to throw out a deliberately misleading claim for defective cavity wall insulation brought against a construction company by an unscrupulous claims management organisation; and
  • recovering £100,000, on behalf of a finance company, secured by a personal guarantee given by the director of a company which had gone into liquidation and which the director claimed he did not have to pay.
