Ellen is a Senior Associate in the Asset Management team.
She has been working in the legal sector for over 20 years and is experienced in commercial real estate transactions involving high street, shopping centre and retail park property, as well as other assets including airport cargo units, warehouses, car parks, and office space.
Working predominantly for landlords, she negotiates and drafts new leases, renewals, break clauses, assignments and licenses, often dealing with household names as tenants from Clarks and Pets-at-Home to Boots and Pizza Hut.
Key clients include institutional landlords with large retail property portfolios, notably M&G Retail Ltd, part of M&G Prudential.
Recent examples of how Ellen has supported clients include:
- enabling a landlord to benefit from the growth of an existing tenant's business by re-negotiating a lease without break to include occupation of larger adjacent premises;
- improving the commercial balance of a government department's tenancy by negotiating out conventional Crown exemptions, such as landlord's right of entry restrictions; and
- ensuring an anchor tenant remained in occupation despite their initial objections to a new lease by demonstrating the value of its up to date lease provisions.
