Jonathan is a Partner in the real estate team. He specialises in residential development, with a particular focus on strategic land projects.
Jonathan drives deals forward, working with property developers and promoters to negotiate options, promotion agreements and conditional agreements with respect to high-value sites, managing funding arrangements and security. He also has experience of multi-party collaboration arrangements and development agreements.
Jonathan always works with an eye to his client’s exit strategy (whether a trade sale or development) to ensure that any disposal is a seamless as possible.
His clients include listed companies, property developers and promoters, and housebuilders.
Recent examples of how Jonathan has supported clients include:
- advising Quinn Estates on the acquisition of Betteshanger Park from Hadlow College (in administration) and the subsequent sale of part of the site to Redrow Homes. In addition to the acquisition of the site and sale, Knights have also advised on planning and funding arrangements;
- acting for the promoter of Mountfield Park, a significant urban extension near Canterbury for over 5,000 homes, commercial and other uses, with respect to land assembly and the property aspects of proposed joint venture and funding arrangements;
- acting for the master developer of Otterpool Park, a new garden town settlement of up to 8,500 houses to be located near Hythe;
- acting for the developer of 4 luxury duplex apartments to be constructed on the roof top of an existing 10 storey residential building overlooking Lords Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood; and
- Acting for Persimmon Homes on various strategic land projects across the south of England.
