Catherine is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution team.

Specialises in the defending personal injury claims for self-insured businesses arising from road traffic accidents, accidents at work and incidents involving members of the public.

In addition, Catherine also advises on the defence of personal injury claims stemming from non-compliance with data protection legislation and on commercial disputes involving data breaches and failure to observe and perform contractual obligations.

Catherine’s clients are based throughout the UK and operate in a range of sectors, including waste management, hospitality, financial services and private education.

Recent examples of how Catherine has supported clients include:

  • negotiating the out-of-court settlement of a road traffic accident claim on behalf of a waste management company, reducing the payout to £30,000 from £500,000 originally sought;
  • securing an indemnity from the supplier of defective equipment used by a company facing a £200,000 personal injury claim from an employee who was injured in an accident at work while using the equipment;
  • persuading an individual to withdraw a claim for personal injury compensation following an alleged road traffic accident by producing evidence which suggested fundamental dishonesty in the claim; and
  • successfully recovering a term’s fees for an independent school after parents removed their child and tried to resist a contractual requirement to pay in lieu of notice arguing the requirement was unfair.
