Lisa is a Senior Associate in the Tax & Trusts and Wills & Estates teams.

She is a Chartered Legal Executive and has over 16 years’ experience in supporting clients with wills, private, powers of attorney, personal injury trusts and court of protection matters.

Lisa specialises in the management of numerous clients’ financial affairs, including large compensation awards in her capacity as a Court of Protection appointed professional deputy. She has experience in applications regarding statutory wills, loads and gifts, and applications for authority to buy and sell property.

Lisa has specialist expertise in applications relating to the Court of Protection for clients who lack mental capacity and require appointed officials to make decisions on their behalf. This also includes dealing with applications for lay deputies, including applications for family members to be appointed to act as financial deputies for their loved ones. 

The majority of Lisa’s clients have been awarded compensation for personal injury, sometimes sustained at birth, resulting in cerebral palsy. Other clients have sustained brain injuries as a result of road traffic accidents. One of the most recent awards amounted to a lump sum of over £5 million, with annual periodical payments of over £180,000, rising to over £210,000 per annum.  Another client’s award amounted to £8m which Lisa manages on behalf of her client.

Recent examples of how Lisa has supported clients include:

  • Working with rehabilitation teams, headed up by a case manager and including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, assistive technology specialists and neuropsychologists, to meet clients’ needs and provide a structured approach to their rehabilitation;
  • Working with personal injury lawyers during the claim for compensation to understand clients’ needs and how their compensation can be used to maximise their recovery;
  • Assisting clients with the purchase and adaptation of suitable properties to meet their needs, working with all disciplines to include architects and accommodation experts; and
  • Arranging for clients’ compensation awards to be invested by liaising with investment advisors with specific experience in investing compensation awards.
