Maria is a Partner in the Family team.
Maria is based in our Brighton and Kings Hill Office. She has over 25 years’ experience specialising in family law, she has practised in the South East of England and London building a reputation for a meticulous and tenacious representation of her clients.
Practising in all areas of Family law, with particular expertise in high-net-worth financial matters, including family business’s, company assets and property portfolios. Maria also deals with complex children disputes, domestic abuse, cohabitation agreements, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and TOLATA (Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act) matters.
Maria’s niche strength lies in her advocacy. As an advocacy-qualified lawyer, she represents her clients personally throughout hearings and trials, offering consistent and seamless representation, without the need to instruct external barristers. This gives her clients the advantage of having one trusted advisor by their side from start to finish.
Some examples of her work include:
- Representing a spouse in the identifying and protection of hidden company assets within a financial application where the former Spouse had failed to disclose and attempted to dissipate assets.
- Representing a Spouse in an application for a financial order in the UK following an overseas Divorce.
- Representing and securing an order for grandparents in an application for a Lived with order, were CAFCASS did not support such a placement.
- Preparing a prenuptial agreement to provide a fair and reasonable settlement in the event of Divorce, whilst protecting multi million pound business and portfolio assets.
