Tom is a Partner in the Employment team
Tom provides commercial and strategic advice to businesses in relation to employment issues, disputes and Employment Tribunal claims. Tom regularly conducts advocacy in the Employment Tribunals where appropriate.
Tom has expert knowledge of the hotel and leisure sector and the employment issues which commonly arise in the sector.
He also has strong links to the nuclear industry via his position as Legal Director for Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster.
Tom works with a range of businesses from SME’s to FTSE listed PLCs.
Examples of how Tom has supported clients include:
- Successfully defending an inducing breach of contract claim up to the Court of Appeal
- Defending multiple discrimination claims brought by an employee, with the case lasting 5 years due to the complexity of the issues
- Was able to respond quickly and come up with a straightforward solution to save a leisure client over £1m in potential redundancy/notice
- Defending age, sex and race discrimination claims brought against a client arising out of a refusal to furlough the employee during COVID.
