Emma is an Associate in the Family team.
She supports clients on a range of family law matters, with a particular focus on private law children proceedings, advising on pensions and supporting high net worth clients with their finances.
Emma’s clients include members of the Armed Forces or their spouses regarding matters related to military pensions on divorce.
She is a qualified Resolution lawyer, sitting on the Hampshire Resolution committee and a member of the White Ensign Association and Partner Organisation for Veterans Outreach Support – regularly attending the Portsmouth drop-in to provide assistance to serving and retired members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Emma also has vast experience representing clients on matters involving attempts to hide or dissipate financial assets as part of financial remedy proceedings – regularly handling cases where expert evidence is required to consider business interests, tax implications on the sale of stocks and shares or to assist with formal company valuations.
Clients have included high net worth business owners, individuals with international properties and clients with complex pension schemes of a significant value.
Emma brings empathy and a meticulous attention to detail in matters where creative solutions are needed, such as high value or complex cases, or for clients with limited assets.
Examples of how Emma has recently supported client include:
- Acting for a father subject to allegations of substance abuse and assault against a baby, including a finding of fact hearing. Successfully challenged the allegations and achieved a child arrangements order which provided overnight and substantive contact.
- Advising a mother in relation to a child’s Covid-19 vaccination status – successful securing an agreement after the fathers’ refusal to provide consent.
- Preparing an update parenting plan with appropriate nouns and pronouns for a client who had transitioned gender, after reaching an agreement over increased contact arrangements.
- Supported successful negotiations in an arbitration case for a considerable asset base with inheritance and income considerations.
