As a highly skilled litigator, Kath has extensive experience leading complex claims and defences in the High Court, resolving disputes outside of Court and acting in an advisory capacity in relation to strategically complex contentious situations.

As a defamation lawyer, Kath advises in relation to reputation management, public interest and media scrutiny and broader crisis management strategies.

Kath acts for clients across a wide variety of sectors including sport, education, hospitality, financial services and retail. Clients range from large corporates and equivalent organisations (where Kath works with boards, senior stakeholders, GCs and in-house teams) to the owners and directors of SMEs and high profile individuals.

  • Acting for Renhe Sports Management Co Ltd in High Court litigation following aborted negotiations for the sale of Reading Football Club to Redwood Holdings; culminating in a new sale process between the parties which saw the sale of the Club to Redwood.
  • Advising a wide variety of clients in relation to investigative journalism – both print and broadcast. Working with PR companies, influencing stories and assisting with stakeholder comms.
  • Securing takedowns of offending material published online/ cease and desists in relation to threatened publications.
  • Working with business clients in relation to counter-party/employee malfeasance or breach of contract and the collation of evidence to support/defend applications for injunctive relief.
  • Acting for a manufacturing client whose secret recipe was stolen, involving the execution of a search & seize order, followed by an application for injunctive relief including against a competitor business.
