Louise is a Senior Associate in the Development team.

She is a Licensed Conveyancer and deals with commercial and residential property sales/purchases. On development matters, she prepares reports on title, drafts option and overage agreements, negotiates easements and the variation of restrictive covenants. Her work also includes road and footpath adoption and handling plot sales, including through zero-rated VAT golden brick arrangements.

Her specialism is in highways law, and in particular on stopping up orders, standard section 38 adoption agreements, section 37 and section 228 alternatives, and on section 278 agreements, having previously been an in-house lawyer for Kent County Council.

She works with clients throughout the UK including property development and investment group Quinn Estates and national house building company Persimmon Homes.

Recent examples of how Louise has supported clients include:

  • negotiating a section 38 agreement for a spine road running through a large development spread across three sites, which the developer needed signing off before the individual plots on the development could be sold;
  • negotiating a retaining wall agreement on behalf of a restauranteur to ensure that for the future repair and maintenance of the wall which adjoined an adopted highway do not impede the adopted highway and liability for any works to the wall remain the liability of the business owner;
  • completing certificates of title for a lender who had been lined up by a developer to provide financing for the development of a large, mixed use scheme in the South East of England; and
  • completing 14 self-build plot sales to separate individual and corporate buyers under a combination of golden brick and vanilla agreements and serving notices on each for the release of retention monies following the completion of agreed infrastructure works.
