The £500m regeneration of Wythenshawe town centre has taken an important step forward with legal advisers appointed to support on the delivery of the first phase of new homes.

Ahead of construction, Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) has instructed Knights’ specialist Housing & Regeneration team in Wilmslow to advise on the project, which will see 422 high‑quality affordable homes delivered as part of the town centre’s transformation.

The wider masterplan - led in collaboration between WCHG, Muse and Manchester City Council - will bring forward more than 2,000 homes over the next 10–15 years, alongside improved community facilities, public spaces and sustainable transport links. The scheme forms part of a long-term vision to create a greener, more accessible and economically vibrant town centre.

Knights will advise across three core workstreams: Property, supported by Arthur Chapman and James Challis; Grant Funding, supported by Julie Loggenberg and Adele Beaman; and Construction, supported by Steve Webb.

With over 40 years of experience across the team, their specialist expertise spans brownfield development funding, including the Social Housing Accelerator Fund and Greater Manchester’s Good Growth Fund, complex land and build and joint venture structures, construction arrangements, and major housing delivery - expertise now being applied to the Wythenshawe project.

The appointment means the project can now move into the detailed legal and delivery phase needed before construction can begin.

Arthur Chapman, Housing Partner at Knights, said:

“This is a major moment of progress for Wythenshawe. We understand how transformative this scheme will be for the community of Wythenshawe and for the wider region.

Our team is proud to support WCHG with the expertise needed to move the first phase into delivery and help create a town centre that truly reflects Wythenshawe’s future.”

With offices across the UK, including Wilmslow, Manchester and Chester, the Knights’ team advises on specialist legal services for large‑scale regeneration projects both nationally and in the North West.

Knights’ national Housing & Regeneration team works with more than 100 UK registered providers, and is supported by specialists across Real Estate, Planning, Construction, Property Litigation & Tax.
