He has considerable expertise in complex and high value disputes in the context of reputation protection, cross-sector injunctive relief, and international arbitration. Commercially focused, he adopts the most appropriate strategy to achieve the results that meet his client’s objectives and expectations.
Leonard provides legal advice and solutions to UK and international clients who are typically High Net Worth individuals, Family and Private offices, General Counsel and Company Directors. His clients scale in size from start-ups through to large corporations.
Recent examples of how Leonard has supported clients include:
- defending an ICC Arbitration D&O claim for Barbados based insurer for a claim under policies of insurance for finance backed lending in Singapore (£72m);
- commencing a SAL arbitration arising out a net weight dispute and demurrage (210m INR);
- advising on arbitration to recover losses under finance agreements between BVI and New York based entities ($40m);
- issuing an injunction on a university on behalf of a college in a claim for unlawful termination of contract, promissory estoppel, and waiver (£15m); and
- successfully defending a worldwide freezing injunction, which arose from an email fraud during the execution of a multi-million pound escrow arrangement.
